Screed
Cementitious screed. We recommend pouring at 65mm thickness and has a variety of uses such as levelling concrete floors, acting as a barrier in certain environments, or as a standard finish in others. This versatile mix can be delivered both wet and dry dependant on suitability. In simple terms, screed is a material layer placed over a concrete base or subfloor to create a smooth, flat surface for applying flooring finishes. It also aids in evenly distributing loads across the base and provides a level surface for installing underfloor heating systems.
Wet Screed: A liquid screed is pumped in and spread across the floor surface. It naturally levels itself, becoming perfectly even, and is typically hard enough to walk on within about 72 hours. However, it will take significantly longer to dry completely before the floor can be finished. Wet screed is very quick to lay or pour—covering an area of 25m² takes around 20 minutes from start to finish. The speed of application saves on labour and time, making the overall costs roughly equivalent.
Dry Screed: Dry screed is composed of aggregates, like sand, and cement, mixed in a ratio of 3-5 parts aggregate to 1 part cement. This mixture forms a thin, concrete-like substance that clumps together when squeezed. Commonly referred to as traditional screed due to its prevalent use in the industry. This type of screed is applied manually with a float and trowel. Additionally, dry screed can be used to create uneven surfaces when needed, such as in wet rooms.
