THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO VOLUMETRIC CONCRETE

A Guide To Volumetric Concrete

Batched on-site concrete to accommodate every customers specific needs.

Volumetric concrete is mixed on-site at your premises, directly in front of you. The primary advantage of this approach is that you can adjust your order as we’re pouring. It’s also advantageous if you find that you require more or less concrete than initially anticipated. If you require semi-dry for pin kerbs and a wet mix for a footing we can do both from one wagon!

WHEN DO YOU NEED VOLUMETRIC CONCRETE?

Volumetric concrete is essential for projects where the exact quantity of concrete needed is uncertain. The fundamental advantage of volumetric concrete is its flexibility; it can be adjusted on-site. This means that even the most unforeseen hitches don’t have to throw your entire project off course. The mix can be changed instantly. Drum mixers are limited to the distance they can travel – we are not! We can reach rural areas and still pour concrete that is to specification unlike drum mixers who can only travel loaded with a 10mile radial.

VOLUMETRIC MIXER

VEHICLE SPECIFICATION

  • Able to deliver concrete at variable speeds to accommodate your desired off-loading method.
  • Able to supply concrete, screed, road-foam, permeable no-fines.
  • Our Mixers measure around 9 meters in length, 2.55 meters in width and 13 feet high.
  • We offer a broad selection of on-site batched concrete, covering all mixes of variable strengths and uses. You only pay for what you pour.
  • The mix can be adjusted on the spot to meet your requirements. Every mixer comes with 2 wheelbarrows that are available for your use at no charge.
  • Every mixer comes with an extension chute capable of extending 5 meters from the rear of the lorry, providing extra reach when necessary.
  • Each wagon is calibrated every 3 months to ensure they are mixing to the correct specifications and volume.
  • Economical, fast, clean, and efficient without any waste.

VOLUMETRIC CONCRETE PROCESS

The process works as follows:

1. **Calibration**:

– Regular calibration of the equipment ensures accurate mix proportions and quality.

2. **Mix Design**:

– The operator uses a control panel on the truck to input different specifications for the mix. – A computer guides the operator on setting the gates to ensure the correct mix.

3. **Aggregate Loading**:

– Aggregate is transported on a conveyor belt to the mixing bowl.

4. **Cement Addition**:

– Cement is introduced via the cement discharge tube and drops into the bowl through the cement ‘sock’.

5. **Water Introduction**:

– Water flows into the mixing bowl through a small hose.

6. **Mixing**:

– The batch is mixed using a mix auger.

7. **Discharge**:

– The mixture descends through the chute and exits the truck.

8. **Quality Control**:

– On-site quality control checks, such as slump tests, ensure the concrete meets the required specifications before pouring.

9. **Clean-up**:

– After use, the equipment is cleaned to prevent material build-up and ensure longevity and performance.

The onboard computers in these trucks enable the creation of highly precise mix designs, accommodating projects of every kind and size. Once the ideal mix is achieved, it can be efficiently pumped to the targeted site with little to no mess. Additionally, should there be any changes in circumstances or needs, the mix can be adjusted instantly, eliminating concerns over delays or mandatory downtime.
